Tuwharetoa FM represents Ngāti Tūwharetoa and broadcasts throughout the Central North Island from its station in Tūrangi. Set up in February 1991 at the Waiariki Polytechnic, the station was initially on air until 1992, when it closed. It reopened in 1993 and now covers Taumarunui, National Park, Whakapapa and Raetihi.
