As the Dominica Broadcasting Corporation officially operates under the name DBS Radio the station serves as the national public radio station for the Commonwealth of Dominica. The broadcasting service started operations in November 1971 through its history as originally known as Windward Islands Broadcasting Service (WIBS) which was renamed to Radio Dominica. As a vital source of news as well as culture and entertainment the radio station serves both native Dominicans on and off the island.
